When You Reach Me

Front cover featuring a shoe, bread bag, winter jacket, library book, Miranda's school, a key, Miranda's apartment, two dollar bills and a mailbox; all important plot elements in the novel.

When You Reach Me is the 2010 Newbery Award Winner by Rebecca Stead, author of Umbrella Summer and The Thing About Georgie. This book is about a girl named Miranda and she lives in N.Y.C.,  she lives with her mom and is best friends with a boy named Sal. But one day this random kid comes up to Sal and punches him in the gut.

But the weirdist thing happens is that after the punch Sal stops talking to Miranda. So Miranda has to make new friends. But on a random day she gets a note, and it scares her. Now this note is just first...  This book does not have a word in it that does not matter, that means read it carefully because you WILL be amazed by this foreshadowing. This is a very strong book that I would like to be made into a movie ( Hopefully directed by Steven Spielberg ), and I liked it a lot.

This was a Mrs. T read aloud.
